CONVENTION CENTRE

The conference venue is the “Centre de Congrès de Caen” (Caen Convention Centre) - 13, avenue Albert Sorel, 14000 Caen -  which is located very close to the centre of Caen and is easily reached by foot from any of the downtown hotels.

A detailed map may be downloaded showing the location of the conference centre:

And a larger scale map showing the main downtown area of Caen, including the railway station and convention centre may also be downloaded:

The convention centre includes a 500 seat main auditorium ("Ampithéâtre") which will be used for the plenary sessions as well as a number of other rooms with capacities of 100 - 200 participants that will be used for the parallel sessions ("Ateliers 1 - 4" which are denoted as "A1" - "A4" on the programme).  The reception and coffee break area ("Espace Reception") will be used to display the poster presentations throughout the full week of the conference.

The following plan shows the layout of the convention centre:

Please note that parking next to the convention centre and on the surrounding streets is metered.  We suggest that if you do decide to come by car each day you use the nearby parking of the Caen race course ("Hippodrome") which should be available and free if there is no racing scheduled - see map above.  We do, however, recommend walking as the easiest and quickest means to navigate downtown Caen. Note that the city's tramway is currently being upgraded and a number of downtown streets are closed to vehicles.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN CAEN

If you do wish to use public transport in Caen, please note that the tramway is under reconstruction and you will need to use the buses.  Bus lines are denoted by their numbers and the direction the bus is taking on the line is indicated by the last stop.  Tickets may be purchased from the distributors at some of the bus stops or from the driver.  A single trip ticket is valid for 1h15, costs €1.50 and must be validated when you board the bus.

Plans showing the various bus routes for the downtown area of Caen as well as for the surrounding suburbs are provided below.  Note that the stop to be used for the railway station and bus terminal is "Gare SNCF".
